The Book of Psalms is the longest book of the Bible and contains 150 Psalms. Psalms were songs written as expressions of praise, declarations of emotions, laments of sorrow or guilt, celebrations of events, and more. The Psalms were written by many authors, and many of them are attributed to King David. Whether he did write them is still debated by scholars, but many of the Psalms reference moments in his life and kingship.

Perhaps the second most read book of the Bible, you will no doubt listen more than once to the Book of Proverbs masterfully narrated by Glenn Hascall.

The Book of Genesis, the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, is Judaism's account of the creation of the world and the origins of the Jewish people. It is divisible into two parts, the primeval history (chapters 1–11) and the ancestral history (chapters 12–50).

The Gospel is counterintuitive to humans. We are used to earning almost everything in our lives. Another vital aspect of this book is John's warnings about false teachers. These individuals "have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist" (2 John 7).

A fire that doesn't burn, a sea that splits in two, bread from the sky. The second book of the Bible is a story of one miracle of God after another as he makes himself known. Journey with Moses, an unlikely hero, as he leads the Israelites from a life of oppression to the wilderness classroom where they learn what it means to be God’s chosen people.

In Ephesians, Paul gives us a detailed description of Church members' relationship to Christ. The apostle is writing to strengthen the churches of Ephesus. He tells them, "In him [Jesus] you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit." (Ephesians 2:22) This reminds us that we are all part of the "body" of Christ, his Church. Listen to Paul, and be encouraged about your role in redemptive history.

False claims about Jesus have been made for centuries, even during Jesus' time on Earth. The Apostle Luke refutes many of the distorted reports about Jesus in this Gospel. He depicts to his listeners the true Christ: the Son of Man who has come to seek and save what is lost. Listen to the third Gospel and learn about our Lord Jesus, a friend of sinners, and what he freely offers us.

The Gospel of Mark portrays the life of Christ complete with parables, sermons, and a narrative of many events in the adult life of Jesus. As much a book of history as a book of faith, and is equally suited for both.

John writes to a believer named Gaius urging him to continue walking in truth and love. Along with general instruction for Church leaders, the apostle warns about those who oppose the Gospel of Jesus Christ, specifically warning Gaius about a man named Diotrephes. An individual with selfish ambition that is never satisfied, Diotrephese is no different from much of the opposition we face today. Listen to John as he addresses this in his godly wisdom.

The Apostle Paul is one of the prominent authors of the New Testament, with 13 of its 27 chapters being letters written by him to churches throughout the world. These letters are foundational to many Christian denominations, as they are instructional for how groups of Christians ought to believe and behave. In addition to being instructional, the letters of Paul are a fascinating look at the ethics and ideals of early organized Christian religious sects.

In the beginning of all beginnings, the artist of all artists simply spoke, and all of creation unfolded before him. Satisfied with his work, God said, "It is good." Not long after, the first human beings faced a serious choice when tempted to shake off their Creator’s leadership so as to be his equal. Out of great love, God then chose the Israelites as a nation to be witnesses of his existence. The five books of Moses are referred to as the Pentateuch, and encompasses the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books give the foundation for Jewish law and religion, and outlined the covenants given to Jewish people by their God. It is also largely the story of Moses, the man chosen to lead God’s people into the home he had placed for them.

Proverbs is not merely an anthology but a "collection of collections" relating to a pattern of life that lasted for more than a millennium. It is an example of the Biblical wisdom tradition and raises questions of values, moral behavior, the meaning of human life, and right conduct.

Job is what everyone would consider a "good" person. So why are so many terrible things happening to him? The real question may be: Why does Job continue to give praise to God in the midst of his terrible circumstances? Although he laments and suffers, Job ultimately understands that God is good and is worth praising no matter what.

Many called Jeremiah the "Weeping Prophet" and, as shown in this book, he has every reason to mourn. Jeremiah's ministry is primarily concerned with preaching the word of God to an idolatrous people. When he comes to realize the Israelites' refusal to repent, Jeremiah begins to describe a future judgment. Interestingly enough, even today the words of this prophet provide us with a study of our own sinfulness.
