A compilation of 80 short stories by the author of "Anne of Green Gables" that were not previously published in a book or in one of Project Gutenberg's short stories collections for this author. The subjects range from children's stories, to romance, humor, and ghost stories. These short stories were published in various magazines from the years 1896 to 1924. Some of these stories were adapted by L.M. Montgomery into chapters of her later novels. The story "Una of the Garden" was transformed into the novel "Kilmeny of the Orchard".

The winsome Anne Shirley is grown, has married her beloved Gilbert, and is the mother of six frolicsome children. Anne and her family experience some unimaginable events when a strange family moves into a nearby mansion. The Meredith family is comprised of two boys and two girls, a minister father but no mother, and a runaway girl named Mary Vance.

Twenty-four-year-old Eric Marshall arrives on Prince Edward Island to become a substitute schoolmaster, even though he has a bright future in his wealthy family's business. This is the second story in the Anne of Green Gables series. Skinny little red-haired Anne has changed into a pretty 16-year-old and is all grown up - well, sort of grown up. During her first week of school, Anne befriends Philippa Gordon, a beautiful girl whose frivolous ways charm her.
