Grimms’ Fairy Tales was first published in Germany in 1812 as “Kinder und Hausmärchen“. This series of recordings is based on the original 1823 English translation by Edgar Taylor, with subsequent editing by Marian Edwardes.

Editha was a queer little girl. She was rather old-fashioned, as her aunts used to call it, and was always very fond of books. Indeed, Editha perhaps read more than was quite good for her.
