To you, the listener of this audiobook, I want to say, this audiobook is not written merely as a history of my travels in Tibet, neither is it meant to be a display of words to reveal the truth, for the truth cannot be revealed in words. Neither should it be listened from an intellectual point of view so as to give pleasure to the mind; nor is it meant to give you a new religion or a new authority or belief. It is meant to open up, to awaken the inner being that is closed up, asleep, to become aware of the powers and possibilities of the real self.

The world is a thing of wonder and we should be filled with a greater sense of what is wonderful. But it so happens that in many respects we are still in a primitive stage of development, so that instead of a feeling of reverence and appreciation for the world about us, we inadequately interpret it in terms of the miraculous, the magical, and the mysterious.

Whoever lets loose a sunbeam in this world starts a benediction among men. Whoever sets a little lamp where its beam may shine on even a few feet of someone's path has done that which is worth while. God made the sunbeam, and the candle was lighted a great while ago; but if in my little book I can bring the light nearer to some who will be blessed and cheered by it, that will be enough.

A third class have so far progressed along the Path of Life that they have crossed the borders of a new plane of consciousness. They are in a strange land - they see no familiar landmarks - they do not recognize the country that lies before them.

I am not alone. Wherever I am, God is. Wherever I go, I go with God. Should traveling be in order, I have no fear, for his love goes before me and prepares the way. Right lodging and perfect meals await me as I need them. I dedicate both my car and the trip to God. His hand is on the wheel and his wisdom assures the smooth operation of the car. His love reaches out to help me through everyone I meet.

Within the chapters of this little volume are to be found some of the most priceless gems belonging to the deepest phases of the Christian religion.

Students of divine science rejoice in the all-inclusiveness of this teaching. Nothing is excluded; all is to be understood and interpreted aright. An omnipresent god does not confine the revelation of himself to any one channel, but he flows into expression wherever he is given the right of way. Therefore, every ardent and persistent seeker discovers truth, and as a result, contributes something toward the well-being of mankind.

This teaching is essentially a revelation of the Risen Christ. I am not speaking of the life of any man between his physical birth and death, but of the Christ who has risen in me and who rises in all. I have no mental image of a being outside of my life, or yours.

Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one's own understanding without the guidance of another. This immaturity is self-incurred if its cause is not lack of understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another. The motto of enlightenment is therefore: Sapere aude! Have courage to use your own understanding!

The stories recorded in the Bible are prophetic sketches of events predestined to take place in the individual you! We are told in the seventh chapter of John: “We know where this man comes from, yet we are told that when the Christ appears no one will know where he comes from.” Speaking of the Father and the higher realm to which he now belongs, Jesus says: “A time will come when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but tell you plainly of the Father.”

You might think that you are not really known, that not a thing is ever mentioned about you in any book ever written. But I want to tell you that the greatest book ever written is all about you. The Bible is your biography. It is also your autobiography, because you inspired it. It is you who dictated it, and it’s all about you - every word in it.

"Where are you from?" This you will find in the 19th chapter of the Book of John. And the rabbi said to Pilate: "We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die, for he claims he is the Son of God." And their law would not allow that, for we know where this man is from, know all about him; and when Messiah appears no one will know where he is from. So his claim is false. When Messiah appears it will be mysteriously done. And yet we know exactly where this man is from.

The greatest thing ever known—what is it? Surely the answer must be one that is absolutely universal, both in its nature and in the possibilities of its application. It must be one that can be accepted wholly and unreservedly, not only by a single individual, but by bodies of individuals, be they the originators of any particular school of ethics, the followers of any particular system of philosophy, or even the adherents of any great system of religion. It must be one so true in itself that it can be accepted by all men alike the world over.

Today, I am going to talk about enthusiasm and how it makes all of life a joyous experience. Every normal person wishes to be well, happy and successful and there is nothing wrong with this. Sometimes we think that perhaps life withholds these good things from us, as though it didn't wish us to enter into the joy of living. And yet, Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Man's three greatest needs are: to feel that he is needed, wanted and loved; to feel that he belongs to the universe in which he lives, and to have an object or objects upon which to lavish his affection. It is now known that most unhappiness comes from a sense of being rejected; of not being wanted, needed and loved. It is also known that a large percent of our physical troubles is a direct result of emotional congestions that follow in the wake of feeling that we don't belong to life.
