The newest student, fallen angel Gladriel, and her former squadron leader Kessian are in a race against time, struggling to find an ancient prophecy foretelling the purge of a quarter of humanity. But the four horsemen of the apocalypse—war, famine, plague, and death—aren't waiting for them to locate and decipher the cryptic tome before they begin.

Everything has its own balance, and it is the sole duty of the Divine Order of the Orphys Knights to maintain it. Yet the Order is failing. The Divines have forever ruled and bestowed upon the Mortal Realm Their blessing and grace, however, humans had always counted on the Divine Order and its Ancient creatures to protect them and keep the peace between the kingdoms.

Despite their best efforts, fallen angel Gladriel, her new fallen friends, and her former squadron mates have had limited success shifting the world ending prophecy and they feel increasingly helpless as war, famine, plague, and hyperinflation rage, killing millions of the humans they are committed to protecting. With conditions worsening on Earth, celestial warriors are kept increasingly busy aiding humans, making Kessien less and less available.
