First published in 1905, H. G. Wells’s Kipps is an appraisal of society and class framed in a “rags to riches” style plot.

When the village is besieged by strange thefts by an uncatchable thief, the clues might lie with the odd-acting stranger. Revealing his incredible secret, he has turned himself invisible, Griffin escapes and seeks those whom he might suborn into aiding him. This is a guidebook on world control and management, a program that Wells believed should be orchestrated (and would be successful) through what he called the "Open Conspiracy". This conspiracy is fully outlined in this work and is designed to be run by many separate organizations working together, as opposed to being run by just one group. Is this required for the world's most powerful people? Maybe it is. Or maybe it should be. Wells was a visionary and genius whose work should be paid attention to.

The book is, in Wells' words, a "scheme to thrust forward and establish a human control over the destinies of life and liberate it from its present dangers, uncertainties and miseries. It proposes that largely as the result of scientific progress, a common vision of a world 'politically, socially and economically unified' is emerging among educated and influential people, and that this can be the basis of 'a world revolution aiming at universal peace, welfare and happy activity' that can result in the establishment of a 'world commonwealth'."

'The Country of the Blind' is the strange story of a mountain guide who accidently falls off a cliff ledge in the Andes. He survives the fall unhurt, and finds himself in a remote valley where a tribe lives completely cut off from the rest of the world. A hereditary illness has meant that for 15 generations all the members of the tribe have been born blind. As a result, they now have a highly evolved sense of hearing, scent and touch. 'In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king,' thinks the mountaineer.

The Time Machine is a science-fiction novella by H. G. Wells, published in 1895 and written as a frame narrative.
