Among several newspaper-based dramas during radio's golden age, Night Beat was a cut above the others. It was the story of Randy Stone, a hard-nosed Chicago Star newsman, and his quest for the human-interest story behind the headlines. Frank Lovejoy starred as Randy Stone, who came to vivid life thanks to expert scripts by Russell Hughes, Larry Marcus, E. Jack Neuman, and John Michael Hayes. Lovejoy's distinctive voice and approach to the role, combined with top performances by veteran radio actors, gave Night Beat a noir style that listeners loved.

From GI's in New York's Times Square to Bette Davis, Jane Powell, and Eve Arden at the Hollywood Canteen, Americans rejoiced on V-J Day (August 15, 1945). These classic radio moments come from the NBC Radio Network's live coverage.

Like its predecessor, Dragnet, Tales of the Texas Rangers adapted actual police cases for its broadcasts. Leading each week's investigation was Texas Ranger Jayce Pearson, portrayed by movie star Joel McCrea. Because the stories were set in the present, Pearson used the latest scientific techniques to identify criminals. Unlike Joe Friday, Pearson didn't have a regular partner, typically working with the local sheriff instead.

Gildersleeve requests the honor of your presence at the marriage of his niece, Marjorie Forrester, to Bronco Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thompson at Summerfield Church on May 10, 1950. Harold Peary, starring as Uncle Mort, finds himself at odds with Bronco's parents, at loose ends with love interest Kathy Milford, and at a loss on how to deal with Marjorie's impending departure. But he's got trusted and treasured friends in Summerfield to help him through.

Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve was a popular character appearing each week on the Fibber McGee and Molly radio show. On August 31, 1941, Gildersleeve landed his own situation comedy, The Great Gildersleeve, becoming radio's first spin-off. Gildersleeve moved from the town of Wistful Vista, where Fibber McGee and Molly lived, to Summerfield, where he oversaw his late brother-in-law's estate and took on the rearing of his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie and Leroy Forrester.

A classic radio broadcast from the World War II era, NBC War Bond Parade rallied Americans with a wide variety of entertainment and inspirational messages. This episode features everything from Raymond Massey reciting John of Gaunt's soliloquy from Shakespeare's Richard II to a comedic sketch starring Red Skelton; it also included an operatic performance from Faust and big-band music from Kay Kyser. Originally broadcast on February 7, 1944.
