Memoirs of a Sick Mind

Ripped away from his beloved, native New York, ten-year-old Ishmael Abias finds himself a victim of cruel bullies in his new home, a bigoted, openly-racist slice of small-town America.

The child of an interracial marriage between strict, emotionless parents, Ishmael increasingly retreats into his own imagination and daydreams to escape from an everyday life in which his only solace is his little sister, Sarah, and the only student at school who treats him as a human being - the sweet, ever-caring Claire.

Spurred on by unbelievable personal tragedy and exposed to yet more intolerance at the town's new church - curated by the enigmatic Pastor Jadrich Lima - Ishmael begins to plot his revenge against those who have made his life miserable.

What follows turns into a vicious cycle of violence and retribution, one Ishmael cannot escape, and which spirals out of control to its inevitably destructive conclusion.
