Take a vacation and explore a new world of thrilling adventures and sophisticated crimes from best-selling author John Grisham.

If you’re a fan of thrillers, heist stories, entertaining beach listens, and the literati, then you’ll want to dive into John Grisham’s Camino Island. Marking a departure from Grisham’s focus on legal thrillers, this series draws listeners into the world of rare books, celebrated authors, and polished thieves and killers.

The intrigue starts in Camino Island with the theft of five rare F. Scott Fitzgerald manuscripts. Mercer Mann is a young writer in a bit of a rut: she has a severe case of writer’s block and just got fired from her teaching job. So, when a mysterious woman approaches her with a generous offer of money, she’s ready to start a new chapter. In exchange, Mercer must go undercover in a Florida resort town on Camino Island and cozy up to the local bookseller, Bruce Cable, whose popular Bay Books is a front for his lucrative business: dealing in rare, and occasionally stolen, books. Mercer plans to infiltrate his circle of literary friends, who might just know the secret to the stolen literary treasures. Easy enough, right? But when Mercer learns too much, will she be able to escape paradise?

The encore adventure, Camino Winds opens with the anticipated return of best-selling author Mercer Mann, for a special event at Bay Books, and the dreaded arrival of Hurricane Leo. While most residents flee to the mainland, the intrepid Bruce Cable decides to stay and ride out the storm. The bookseller gets drawn back into investigating when the hurricane becomes the perfect cover-up for a murder. Who would want his friend and thriller author, Nelson Kerr, dead? Before long, Bruce begins to suspect that the shady characters in Nelson’s novels are not fictional, but very real and extremely dangerous.

January LaVoy narrates the debut novel, and to quote AudioFile magazine, “[her] presentation is well suited to this slow-paced yet fascinating study of a private eye's investigation methods… She finds outstanding, distinctive voices for the various charismatic characters... The sardonic edge to the dialogue includes all those involved in the book business, and LaVoy appears to enjoy their parties and conversations.”

For the second installment, Michael Beck takes over the mic. No stranger to Grisham’s work, Beck has narrated many of the author’s best-selling novels, including The Runaway Jury and A Time to Kill, winning praise from listeners for his command of Southern accents and the elements of suspense.
