Following the Catastrophe, the plan was simple enough. Scavenge for food. Avoid marauders. And above all else, keep his head down. No problem at all. Especially not with a one-of-a-kind exosuit and a cheeky AI companion on his hands. But when Jarek stumbles onto a back alley mugging gone wrong, well... Problems. The word is out. Young Jarek Slater is packing a serious weapon. The kind he's not ready to use in earnest. The kind that every marauder on the continent would kill for.

Amidst harrowing famine and deadly aliens, Jarek is having a pretty good day. He survived Earth's invasion, he still has his ship, and his prized exo-suit and AI-companion are safe and sound. But when his weaponized suit is stolen, he'll stop at nothing to get it back. Even if he has to break into the alien king's stronghold to do it. On the way to spring his imprisoned informant, though, an energy-slinging arcanist named Rachel lays claim to the same captive.

That awkward moment when you saved the day but doomed the planet...It all went off without a hitch. Okay, so there were hitches. Lots of hitches...Now, [REDACTED] is in a coma, and our heroes have a tight-lipped raknoth telling them some fresh new hell is about to come raining down on their heads - one that gives even the raknoth nightmares. And that's when the strange ship shows up....

For the first time in history, human and raknoth stand united against the doom coming to swallow them all whole. Okay. On second thought, "united" is probably a strong word. Turns out, mutual fear of galaxy-conquering super monsters does not a steadfast alliance make. Especially not between the people of Earth and the very creatures that devastated it.

Now, scattered and hunted by the monstrous rakul, Rachel and Jarek must do everything they can to protect their friends and keep their brewing Enochian weapons safe long enough for one slim chance at turning the tides. But first, they have to find each other. And with no comm network to speak of and a squadron of galaxy-class killers on their tails, nothing is quite so simple. Harvest has fallen. Earth stands on the brink of destruction, its would-be defenders staring down the precipice. They won't go down without a fight. But what if their fight was never enough?
