Morgan McKinnon, seventh Duchess of Seabridge, refuses to believe that her husband is dead, regardless of the facts that tell her otherwise. Deep down she knows Nic is still alive, and that her uncle is somehow behind the betrayal of Nic's troops in Ireland where he was stationed by King Henry's command.

Book two (parts 1 & 2) of this eight-part series focuses on the characters who are rough around the edges: Connor Holden and the fiery Irish physician, Reagan O'Riley. Both characters introduced in book one, The Beginning, have come back together in a dynamic love story full of misunderstanding, deception, and ultimately forgiveness. The growth they experience through the journey comes at a great cost, as is usually the case when lessons are learned the hard way.

Much has happened in the five years since Reagan disappeared through the curtain of time, taking Cullen McKinnon with her in the hope of saving the young knight's life. The least of those events is Henry's awarding Connor the titles of duke of Featherstone and earl of Rockport. Upon Connor's request, the earldom was passed into his care to hold until the rightful heir can take possession. No one but Nic, Morgan, and he knew that the heir is Reagan O'Riley.

Part two of Unfinished Business finds Connor back in King Henry's service. Tucked inside King Louis XII's safe are the blueprints for modern war machines designed by master engineer Leonardo da Vinci. Conner is charged with the delicate and quite illegal task of stealing them back before the French monarch and his military advisers have the opportunity to produce those war machines, which would result in tipping the balance of power in the region.

Grace Fabrizio, the brilliant and sheltered child of Mafia boss Phillip Scarlatti, has just received her master's degree from Yale in computer engineering. The celebratory lunch in Midtown Manhattan with her husband and father is the last time she sees either of them alive. No one has a clue what could have happened to him leaving the family record silent. Chasing after a serial killer through time and space, Decklyn takes on the biggest gamble of life. Unsure of his time traveling abilities, he doubts that he can save all of the victims, but it's possible he can save victim number six. Risking it all to save the life of just one woman, he journeys back to Earth 2005.
