Dark Humor Satire

Is there a shopping cart where you were about to park and so now, you have to get out of your car to move it or look for another spot? Is your neighbor driving you nuts again? Did your leisurely drive end up aggravating you because it seems no one knows how to drive? Can't get out of the elevator because everyone is rushing in? The reality is the world has changed. We are more self-absorbed than ever, and technology has caused us to pay less attention to our surroundings, if not each other.

This is the fourth installment of Donald Trump: Necromancer and follows our squad of rebellious heroes. Phil Ochs, a folk singer turned vampire demon slayer; Magnus a scientist with a mechanical hand; Aiko, a teenage were panda; and Josh, an urban druid who can tap in to the living force of a city. On the run from their last showdown with the necromancer in chief, they hole up in Disneyworld while they plot their next strike.

This is a tale with a twist. Unlike what you would hear in other fantasy series, where there's a despotic madman in need of overthrowing where the story follows a group of plucky underdogs, this is a tale focusing on said aforementioned despot as he goes about his business with the express intent of getting a group of plucky rebels to overthrow him. Because what's worse than absolute power? Absolute responsibility.

The TGSPGoSSP is a bit of a comedic acting troupe. Their 2-Part Trilogy mocks our beloved niches in genre fiction. All three books take the usual shots at the usual suspects, both fantasy and sci-fi. If you like dark, deadpan humor and satire such as Monty Python, this title might be your cup of tea.

Little did the obscure novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton know in 1830 when he penned that most relished, imitated, and lampooned opening sentence in English literature, "It was a dark and stormy night..." that his words would inspire countless aspiring writers struggling incessantly like boats against the current to emulate his unparalleled style and that his name would grace "The Bulwer-Lytton Contest" honoring his most successful followers. Get it? Abounding in shameless sentences, this audio rendition of the original contest is a hilarious - even perversely instructive - collection of skilled, inept writing. Compiler Scott Rice is a professor of English at San Jose State University and the creator of the contest. The narrators include Marni Webb, Ray Nakamoto, Rachel Songer, and Bob Nathan.

This is the sequel to Donald Trump: Necromancer and I Was a Teenage Were-Panda. In this installment the heroic band of revolutionaries, including a scientist with a mechanical hand, a son of a titan, and a vampire folk singer, make a stealth raid on Capitol Hill and confront the evil Necromancer in Chief as well as a surprisingly formidable speaker of the house.
