Wolfgang Borchert (1921-1947) gilt als prominentester Vertreter der sogenannten "Trümmerliteratur", die sich mit den Schicksalen der Menschen nach Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges befasst. Heimkehrende Soldaten, die körperlich oder seelisch verwundet sind; Zurückgebliebene, die vergeblich auf etwas Wärme und Nähe hoffen; aber auch Menschen, die durch die Kriegserlebnisse scheinbar unberührt zu sein scheinen.

Agamemnon, griechischer Heerführer, soll seine Tochter Iphigenie opfern, um die Windstille zu beenden, die ihn an der Weiterfahrt nach Troja hindert. Sie wird gerettet; ihre Mutter jedoch, Klytemnästra, will sich an Agamemnon wegen des vermeintlichen Mordes rächen. Goethes Klassiker ist auch heute noch Dauerbrenner in den Theatern.
