The essays contained in this volume treat of various subjects. With the exception of perhaps one we must consider all these papers as fragments. Gaius Musonius Rufus was a Roman Stoic philosopher of the first century AD. He has been referred to as the Roman Socrates and is also remembered for being the teacher of Epictetus.
