Spooky vibes emanate from the streets of the city on Halloween. The main character, Andrew, attends a crowded Halloween costume party with his buddies to meet women, but an unfortunate zombie outbreak happens during the crowded party, and he is forced to fight for his life, using a kitchen knife as zombies try to eat him. This is a short listen. It's Halloween, the witching time of year, and for the small town of DenMark this is the worst time of year. Why? Well, because DenMark is cursed with a horrible old witch living on Bone Crusher Lane. Every year at this time, the townsfolk lock up their homes against the witch. You see, DenMark has a curse on it in the name of old Lucille Peacock. Every All Hallows' Eve, the witch steals a child from the townsfolk - call it a sacrifice. This night, however, something has changed in DenMark.

For the month of October 2017, J. Ellington Ashton Press, on their Wicked Little Things blog-talk radio, broadcasted a series of Halloween stories. These “Fireside Stories” (as they were called) were a big hit with the listeners, and the decision was quickly made to publish these tales of terror in an anthology.

We've all been to haunted house attractions on Halloween that have people made up to be scary-looking to scare us even though it is all fake, and we know it, but we don't care; we just want to be scared. Meet Henry Adams. He loves going to haunted attractions, but was getting bored and not scared anymore, so he decided he was going to make his own Haunted attraction that would be to die for - literally. Henry wanted to be the envy of all Halloween attractions, and he was going to do it in a deadly way.

It was Halloween again, October 31st, just like all the Halloweens before it. But this Halloween would change the world forever. The Devil decided to go against God's wishes of only having enough power to deceive our way of being able to choose between good and evil. The Devil said "Halloween Night is the only night of the year that my powers are the strongest." As the darkness set in and the trick-or-treaters headed out of their homes to get candy, the Devil entered every trick-or-treater's mind using mental telepathy.

Als er endlich wieder erwachte, konnte er Holmes ein Präsent vom Teufel persönlich überreichen. Und dieses Geschenk ließ nur auf einen einzigen Täter schließen.

Es war der 29. Oktober 1933, drei Tage vor Samhain, in der das Tor zur Anderswelt weit offen stand, und die Toten geehrt wurden und man sich gleichzeitig vor den bösen Geistern schützen musste, als Inspektor Wolfford bei Holmes und Watson in der Baker Street auftauchte und um Hilfe bat. Die Hebamme Mrs. Hughes wurde tot in ihrer Wohnung aufgefunden. Um die Leiche herum wurden fünf Kürbisse platziert, jeder davon mit einer Fratze versehen und hell erleuchtet.

Holmes wusste nun, wer der Täter sein musste. Anhand von Inspektor Wolffords Befragungen konnte Holmes schnell einen Zusammenhang herstellen.

Holmes und Watson waren zwar jetzt im Besitz eines Zettels, der die Vornamen der nächsten beiden Opfer preisgab. Doch wie sollten sie Inspektor Wolfford erklären, woher sie die Liste hatten? Zumal der Erhalt dieser Liste jegliche Logik von vorne herein ausschloss. Außerdem stellte sich noch die Frage, wer hinter dem dritten und letzten Opfer stecken sollte, da dieses nur mit einem Fragezeichen versehen war. Als Holmes und Watson schließlich auf das dritte Opfer, den Pfarrer Blake Bancroft, stießen, beschlich Holmes eine böse Vermutung, wer sich hinter dem letzten Opfer verbergen konnte.
