This is a true story about Frances, age 9, who saw fairies by the waterfall behind her house. Nobody but Frances saw them, but when she told her cousin Elsie and their parents, the adults teased them. Why not take a photograph? Elsie (who was fifteen) had the idea. She would paint paper fairies and take their picture with Frances, and none would be the wiser. The girls never meant to fool the world. Who could have imagined that Elsie’s photograph would fall into the hands of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes?

It was 672 BC, and the Central Kingdom had been divided into more than a hundred of warring fiefdoms. The army of my country, Lirong, perched high on top of the secluded Mount Blackmare had been miserably defeated by the invading army from the State of Jin, one of the biggest states of all, with a duke that was ready to crown himself king. The duke demanded not only compensation in foodstuff and livestock from my father, the Baron of Lirong, he also wanted beauties from Lirong to decorate his court.

It's the late 1800's and the Navajo are under siege by the white man. Northwestern New Mexico would serve as a backdrop for an encounter that few experience. “Annawan,” in Navajo, means “Chief.” The Navajo name for Bigfoot is Yé'iitsoh, or “Big God.” A startling encounter with Yé'iitsoh would scare young Annawan and send him running to the medicine man for answers.

June 6, 1944. There is so much work to be done. The thought depresses me, but I know that I can’t dwell on it too much. If I am to survive the war and find my way to Amélie in Paris, I have to stay on my guard and be ready for anything. At the thought of Paris, I lean back. Memories of those moments remain with me. This novel is based on a collection of stories written in a group and posted to an app called StoryFire. I came up with the idea and began the series, but I had help from my co- writer in creating this series.
