De seneste bind i serien blev udgivet i 2003 og 2004, men efterfølgende besluttede King sig for at skrive Vinden gennem nøglehullet til stor begejstring for de mange fans. Faktisk kan romanen også læses uden at have læst de øvrige i serien, og kan på den måde udgøre en port ind til Kings forfatterskab.
