This is the cute, short poem, "Antigonish" or "The Man Who Wasn't There", inspired by reports of the ghost of a man roaming the stairs of a haunted house in Antigonish, a town in Canada's Nova Scotia province.

Where Decay Sleeps lays 36 poems on the undertaker’s table, revealing to us the seven stages of decay: pallor mortis, algor mortis, rigor mortis, livor mortis, putrefaction, decomposition, and skeletonization. "Ex Oblivione" is a prose poem by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft, written in late 1920 or early 1921 and first published in The United Amateur in March 1921, under the pseudonym Ward Phillips. It is written in first person and tells of the dreams of a presumably dying man. In his dreams, the man is walking through a valley and encounters a vine-covered wall with a locked bronze gate therein. He longs to know what lies beyond the gate.

A path with no beginning, nor port of call. A tortured sojourner lost in a hellish purgatory, searching in despair for an exit. The Tower & the Star is not only a strange tale, but a frigid trek through melancholic dejection. One spirit's rove into the dark night and its arduous transformation throughout. An unmoored voyage with but a whit of hope to lay hold of that tunnel's subsequent light.

Un estudiante está en su habitación abatido, reflexionando sobre lo sólo que le ha dejado su amada Leonora que se ha marchado para no volver. Llama a alguien a la puerta,... el no abre, pasa un tiempo y vuelven a llamar...finalmente abre y no ve nada más que la negrura de la noche, ese símbolo de la soledad infinita en la que Leonora le ha dejado; pero por la puerta entra volando un cuervo y la mente del joven narrador inmediatamente es infundida por su simbología de muerte y maldad.
