Welcome to the wonderful world of Jinx the Cat! This is the introductory story in a series of books about autism, ADHD, spina bifida, and many other disabilities. In this story, Jinx does not yet know Sally has Autism. Rather, this book allows you to get to know Jinx and follow him on his journey across the neighborhood.

When Hank's class takes a field trip to the zoo, he quickly gets lost after his partner (and nemesis) ditches him. Unable to read the map, Hank wanders and finds himself locked in a habitat with Elsie, an elephant recently rescued and kept isolated. He begins a game of soccer with her, and they become fast friends. But when Hank notices how lonely Elsie is, he's determined to help her find her own animal friends.

Sometimes a mouse just has to bust out and do something big. That's why Marvin (also known as "Merciless Marvin the Magnificent") decides it's time to lead Raymond the Rat and Fats the Fuse out of their cozy lair at the back of the movie theater and on to greater glory. Clifford has a good heart, but whenever he tries to do good deeds for others, they always seem to backfire. After many failed attempts, Clifford gives up and goes home. But on the way back, he manages to save two children from a burning house, and then put out the fire. Finally, Clifford is a hero!

It's Valentine's Day on the ranch but bachelor-cowboy Slim Chance doesn't know it. Sally May tells him to forget about the cows and "Go to town and buy a nice gift for Miss Viola!" Slim hates to shop, but he goes to town (with the dogs, of course) and buys a nice box of candy for Miss Viola. But on the way to Viola's house, Hank and Drover take an interest in the candy and...will there be a Happy Valentine's Day on the ranch? Slim sings a bachelor's opinion in his "Valentine's Song."
