ನನ್ನ ಮೊದಲನೇ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಕಾಡು ಹಾದಿಯ ಜಾಡು ಹತ್ತಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಕೃತಿ ಅಂತಲೇ ನನ್ನ ಭಾವನೆ. ಇದು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಓದಲಾರರು ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ಬರೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದಷ್ಟೇ ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿತ್ತೇ ಹೊರತು, ಎಂಥಾ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಬರೆಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಪೂರ್ವಾಲೋಚನೆ, ಸಿದ್ದತೆಯಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಥೆಗಳೂ ಸಂದರ್ಭಾನುಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಲ್ಪಂಟಂತವು. ನಾನು ಕಂಡು ಕೇಳಿ, ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಹೊಸೆದೆ, ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದವು. ಅನುಭವದ ಕಥೆಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಅವು ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಆಪ್ತವಾಗಿದ್ದು. ಕಾರಣ, ನನ್ನ ಅನುಭವಗಳು ಅವರವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದವು.
