Hell Hill Island was founded in 1863 by Marshall Sam Tucker who didn't believe in a fair trial because of his short fuse. If you back talked the Marshall, he would shoot you in both legs, then drag your wounded body with a rope he held as he rode his horse up to the Gallows to be hung high and when the Marshall was through watching the dead body swing back and forth on the Gallows, he would set their body on fire and light his cigar from the flames off their body.

This story revolves around an empty house on an uninhabited island in this work by Algernon Blackwood. The atmosphere is filled with dread, and the flow of the prose is superb.

The Containment Bureau has housed paranormal objects for hundreds of years. A facility buried beneath the mountains, the Bureau has studied and maintained Relics with great efficiency. But when Deacon receives a late-night phone call from his sister that the Bureau has been breached, he knows he has to investigate. Now, the Relics are out of containment - some are eccentric, most are dangerous. Deacon must navigate a labyrinthine facility, dodging murderous Relics, hoping that he can find his sister, and understand what happened in The Containment Bureau.

A small, isolated mountain town is thrown into fear as teens begin to turn up dead, completely drained of blood, but with no apparent puncture wounds. Fearing a serial killer walks among them, the local sheriff sets his eye on a young man who has had past trouble with the law and foretold the disaster on his radio program. Also showing up in town is a well-known newscaster looking for a big story that she can spin into national news. There is also an old legend about a blood demon....
