Jamaican English

The audio begins with simple words for absolute beginners, and ends with advanced practice sentences. Just a few things to note... There is no official way to write Jamaican Patois. It is basically written the way it is pronounced, and pronunciation varies, depending on where in Jamaica you are from, or live. So this is my version of it. The 20 lessons are titled by topic, with the English words below, and the Patois version on top.

Una Marson’s work embodied anti-colonialism, anti-racism, feminism, class politics, and pan-Africanism in the first half of the 20th century. Raymond is moving with his family from Kingston, Jamaica, to Queens, New York, and he can't wait to show everyone how American he can be! Whether it's through books, magazines, music videos and movies, he learns about America in any way he can, even if some of his sources of information are out-dated. However, on Raymond's first day of school in America, his every attempt to impress everyone with his “American-ness” backfires. What's worse, his new classmates doubt if he's Jamaican at all.
