Kalarippayattu, the martial arts form unique to Kerala has always been part of its folklore. Thus we get to know of colourful masters who performed great deeds of valour and showed unimaginable skill. One such master of martial arts was Kallanthattil Gurukkal. A brahmin whose dexterity in the martial arts fetched him the title of Gurukkal from the king himself.

Deep within the canals of Mexico City's Xochimilco region there is a hidden island named la Isla de las Munecas, the Island of the Dolls. Tales of whispering dolls, decaying and hanging from the island has been drawing tourists to the island for years. Don Julian, the man who inhabited the island, often spoken of evil spirits on the island, and he collected 1500 dolls during his lifetime to appease these evil spirits. In 2001, Don Julian was found dead on the island.

Yet almost nothing is truly known about the Maid of Orleans besides her ultimate fate - being burned at the stake when she was still a teenager. Claiming God instructed her to save France from England, she convinced the uncrowned Charles to send her to the siege of Orleans, and she subsequently led the French army to a string of important victories that made it possible for Charles VII to be coronated as the king of France.
