In this 500th Reformation celebration year of Martin Luther's posting of his 95 theses on the door at Wittenberg in Germany, Oct 31, 1517, it seems appropriate to republish some of the classic books about Dr. Martin Luther's life, ministry, and ideas. He was a passionate, highly educated man that believed without question that all the words found in the Bible, both Old and New Testament, were the very Words of God, needed for people everywhere.

As one of the most influential and recognizable religious figures in history, Martin Luther (1483-1546) continues to impact the world over 550 years after his death. Luther was a German priest and theologian whose writings and teachings sparked the Protestant Reformation in the early 16th century, creating one of the greatest schisms in the history of the Catholic Church and touching off religious turmoil and bloodshed that would engulf Europe for the next two centuries.

Martin Luther was a German theologian, priest, author, composer, and previous Augustinian monk who is best recalled as a key figure in the Protestant Reformation and the creator of Lutheranism. In the year 1507, Luther was ordained as a priest. He came to oppose certain Roman Catholic Church theories and practices, specifically the perspective on extravagances. In his 95 Theses of 1517, Luther advised a scholastic evaluation of the practice and effectiveness of extravagances.
