In the early 1920s, members of the Osage Nation and others began to turn up dead, and in many cases, the proceeds of oil revenue owned by these people passed to white “Guardians” appointed by the federal government. The title is a bit misleading, however, as the British also had Native Americans on their side at various points of the war.
