You know, sometimes it would be nice to catch a break. Devon, a professional gamer, has a settlement to grow into a city, a character she'd love to focus on leveling, and some kitchen cabinets that really need restocking. Unfortunately, the fate of the Relic Online game world is at stake, torn asunder by battling creator AIs. Demons rise through planar rifts, rampaging across the physical realm. The ancient city of Ishildar holds power that might turn the tide. If only Devon, the brave heroine chosen as the city's champion, could finish her epic quest line to gain control of the place.

I was about to be promoted to Deputy Manager, when a strange voice—coming from a glowing gem I found in the stationery drawer—told me I was meant for more. I was thinking the same thing. Before my boss' eyes, I was transported to a fantasy world of mana and monsters. When I felled the foul beasts, the gem embedded in my hand absorbed their essence—a light that made me more adept with weapons, and able to wield increasingly better ones. It even grew my body. It turned me into the man I was supposed to be.

Harry Wollenstein is a regular guy. He loves his ranch, his dogs, and beer. He's just a normal dude except that he makes his living fighting in brutal virtual wars. For him, money is short, and like everyone, he needs to make enough to get by. When a huge battle is announced in the capital city New Eden, Harry will do anything to qualify. The only problem is that battles are controlled by Overseers, and Harry has some history with the Overseer of New Eden. Things aren't going to be easy for him.

Jack defeated the hideous monster in the Three Rivers and then left for Carthun, a new land where he might be able to meet characters...like himself. In the small village, everyone he’d met was an NPC. Despite that, he'd made friends and learned a great deal. Arriving in Carthun, Jack quickly makes friends with a few characters, and together they form a party. In the game world, Jack knows knowledge is power, and the more he learns, the better equipped he’ll be the next time somebody comes after him.
