Palestine History

The Israel-Palestine conflict is one of the most enduring and contentious disputes in modern history, rooted in a complex web of historical, religious, and political factors. Dating back over a century, the conflict revolves around competing claims to territory, sovereignty, and identity between Israelis and Palestinians. From the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 to the ongoing occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, the conflict has been marked by cycles of violence, negotiations, and failed peace efforts.

It was a Roman historian and writer, St. Augustine, who coined the phrase "City of God" in a book of the very same title. But the city of God that Augustine was referring to was not in Jerusalem. When Augustine wrote his book, it was hundreds of years after the Jewish city of Jerusalem had been overrun and destroyed by the Roman legions; he was writing of Rome as the city of God and the center of the Roman Catholic faith.
