Poetry Style

Nick Horton shares and declares hope in a broken and groaning world. After several decades teaching, mentoring, and guiding discouraged people, I am slowly learning how to walk more rugged roads with others. They are often weary travelers who have faced squalls and storms of life. How do we handle sadness brought on from depression, broken families, emotional disorders, loneliness, or even death itself? Immersing ourselves in nature, surrounding ourselves and serving in secure communities produces strength in each of us. The path to light and life is an uphill journey.

This collection of pieces that I have written is, in my opinion, some of my best writing thus far in my short endeavor into being an author. They are poems and quotes about relationships that I have had over my lifetime, and though most I will never see or hear from again, they still are and will always be very much alive in my ink and memories. With that being said, there are always those that stand out in my heart, mind, and soul more than all the others and today are a very big part of my life in one way or another.

The epic follows his fourteen-year exile to the forest urged by his father King Dasharatha, on the request of Rama's stepmother Kaikeyi. He traveled across forests in the Indian subcontinent with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. Rama endured the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana–the demon king of Lanka, which resulted in a great war; and Rama's eventual return to Ayodhya to be crowned king amidst jubilation and celebration. The

Manas ka hans is a brilliant attempt to bring forth the life of Goswami Tulsidas. The novel is an attempt to address the complications of religion through Tulsidas while portraying him as a person who was afflicted with all the virtues and vices known to human beings. How Tulsidas finds Shri Ram is a question that the author answers in a fashion that can only be termed brilliant, for lack of better word. The best thing about the work is that it doesn't attempt to glorify any God or deity but simply tries to go into the mind of the devotee - Tulsidas, in this case.

There are only two questions we have to answer in life – how to live and how to die. When we come to the end of the line, we all have to face death, our greatest enemy. But since my emergency cancer operation and chemotherapy, I now choose to face it on my own terms instead of just letting it happen. I will not only survive, I will l thrive. I am determined to prolong my life for as long as I can and to enjoy every moment to the fullest. This is my story in poetry.
