La obra maestra de Dickens. El mismo Dickens consideraba a David Copperfield no solo su obra preferida, sino quiza la mejor de todas las que habia escrito. Quiza y en parte, se deba a que muchos consideran que esta es una obra autobiografica, aunque con muchos elementos de fantasia mezclados en la narracion, en la cual a trozos de aventura real, siguen pedazos conmovedores y escenas domesticas descritas con esa mano maestra del gran escritor ingles.

Con La Buena Tierra la escritora estadounidense Pearl Buck gano el Premio Nobel de 1938, ya que este retrato de un campesino chino, pobrisimo, que a medida que va consiguiendo riquezas se vuelve mas depravado y se llena de vicios, tiene características universales y su hermoso lirismo, ademas de lo fuerte del argumento convirtio la novela en un clasico desde su misma publicacion.

La descripcion de la tormenta que ataca un barco que va a Asia con un grupo de chinos pobres que vuelven a la patria con sus ahorros de toda la vida guardadas en cajitas de madera sirve para hacer notables descripciones de los peligros del oceano.
