Aus Anlass des 50. Thronjubiläums von Queen Victoria gastiert William F. Cody alias Buffalo Bill erstmals mit seiner legendären Wildwest-Show London. So weit, so gut, wären da nicht seltsame Todesfälle, eine Attentatsdrohung und ein leibhaftiger Büffel, der einen undercover-Agenten von Pinkerton zu Tode trampelt. Weil Majestäten und Zelebritäten aus aller Welt zu dem Event erwartet werden, beauftragt Sir Mycroft Holmes vom britischen Geheimdienst seinen Bruder Sherlock, jeden politischen Skandal zu verhindern und einen reibungslosen Ablauf der Feierlichkeiten zu gewährleisten.

Was also ist in seinem Internat in Lewerbridge wirklich geschehen? Sherlock Holmes reist incognito dorthin - als Musiklehrer getarnt, lernt er das Schulleben von seiner schwärzesten Seite kennen.

Holmes ist zunächst wenig überzeugt - bis sich in einem von ihnen ein Leichnam findet. Watson und Mary ziehen vorübergehend in der Baker Street ein, da scheint auch schon der nächste Fall ins Haus zu stehen: Der leitende Architekt der Londoner U-Bahn wittert Sabotage beim Bau der Tunnel.

Wohlbehalten in New York angekommen, möchte sich Holmes' Leibarzt Doktor Watson auf einige gemütliche Urlaubstage in der "Neuen Welt" einstellen. Doch dazu kommt es nicht. The Adventure of Black Peter is a Sherlock Holmes story by Arthur Conan Doyle. This tale is in the collection The Return of Sherlock Holmes, but was published originally in 1904 in the Strand Magazine and Collier's. Forest Row in the Weald is the scene of a harpoon murder, and a young police inspector, Stanley Hopkins, asks Holmes, whom he admires, for help.
