This year's Advent book focuses on the Resurrection Narrative according to Matthew and begins November 30, 2025. Little Books of the Diocese of Saginaw is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging people to pray and spend some quiet time with the Lord during the liturgical seasons.

Originally published in 1951, this book covers the nature of God, the nature of man, the meaning of life; the nature of religion, the sources of Faith, the necessity of prayer, the duty of belief; the consequences of sin, the Commandments of God, the Holy Trinity, belief in Christ, the Redemption; the supremacy of the Pope, the Mystical Body of Christ, the Sacraments, the Mass, the priesthood, devotion to Mary and the Saints, what happens after death, the devotional life of a Catholic. Very interesting and very popular!

It has been said that John Henry Newman "stands at the threshold of the new age as a Christian Socrates, the pioneer of a new philosophy of the individual person and personal life." Newman's personalism is found in the way he contrasts the "theological intellect" and the "religious imagination."

The main sources of information on the life of St. Joseph are contained in the first chapters of the first and third gospels. They are practically the only reliable sources we have of St. Joseph. From them, we know that he was a carpenter and a working man. Despite his humble status, Joseph came from a royal lineage. For, the angel who first tells Joseph about Jesus greets him as "son of David". This royal title is used also for Jesus.

Macarius was born in Upper Egypt around AD 300. As a young man, he was a saltpeter smuggler and became familiar with the desert. He was known for his wisdom and was called "old young man" by his friends. While in the desert, he visited Anthony the Great and learned monasticism from him. After he left, around the age of 40, he returned to his former desert and governed a monastic community there for the rest of his life. St. Macarius is venerated in all Christian denominations, and his spiritual homilies have always been held in high regard throughout the ages.

The dialog is a Christian mystical work by St. Catherine of Siena (1347 - 1380), who is said to have composed it "a state of ecstasy while in dialogue with God the Father". The book is a conversation between God, the eternal father, and the human soul of St. Catherine. The dialogue relates, by the means of many metaphors, the spiritual life of humanity, emphasizing the importance of virtue, constant prayer, and obedience. The dialogues have been a classic since they were composed in Italian in the 14th-century.

A short, famous classic on "true devotion to Mary" - an excellent, easy means of attaining holiness and salvation, a way followed by popes and saints, but also perfect for laypeople. It is at least every bit as good as his True Devotion to Mary! Small but powerful, it seems almost divinely inspired!
