As we stand in June 2025, it is our hope that this handbook serves its intended purpose: to empower professionals across diverse fields to engage with AI tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot, and Grok with greater skill, confidence, and ethical awareness. May it contribute to a future where human ingenuity is augmented by artificial intelligence, leading to more innovative, efficient, and responsible professional work.

Most of us want to make a difference. We donate our time and money to charities and causes we deem worthy, choose careers we consider meaningful, and patronize businesses and buy products we believe make the world a better place. Unfortunately we often base these decisions on assumptions and emotions rather than facts. As a result even our best intentions often lead to ineffective - and sometimes downright harmful - outcomes. How can we do better?

In this small volume an attempt has been made to gather together the best and most reliable of the sets of ethical verses attributed to the Pythagoreans. Both Hall's translation from the Greek (1657), and Rowe's translation from the French of André Dacier (1707), have been used in reproducing the Golden Verses of Pythagoras, but Dacier's version has been almost exclusively followed, being clearer and more intelligible.

The Moral Powers: A Study of Human Nature is a philosophical investigation of the moral potentialities and sensibilities of human beings, of the meaning of human life, and of the place of death in life.
