Plusieurs mois après le crash de leur vaisseau sur Eris, un monde encore non répertorié, les survivants humains ont su s'intégrer parfaitement parmi le peuple Erian. Certains ont même pu trouver l'amour. Alors que tout semble aller pour le mieux, un vaisseau spatial apparait dans le ciel d'Eris. À l'intérieur de la Station spatiale internationale, chacun des six astronautes s'affaire à sa tâche, traversé par des interrogations existentielles. Le temps s'écoule au rythme des orbites autour de la Terre, qui tient le rôle principal de ce roman contemplatif, mélancolique et à l'humour délicat.
