The Nature of Things was written in the 1st century BC by Roman polymath Lucretius. It is written as a didactic poem, and explains Epicurean physics.

Answering questions like "why are so many vegetables green?", "what's the difference between brown bread and white bread?", and "why do beans make you gassy?", cheerful haiku poems and a simple Q&A format make this book a nutritious treat. Pushkin began writing his first major work, Ruslan and Ludmila (1820), a kind of fairy story in verse, in 1817. It was based on Russian folktales told by his old nurse Arina Rodionovna.
