This short story is one of those things that literally took a village to accomplish. From bouncing around ideas to coming up with the characters to listening to me ramble on and on and on about it. In itself, it is a fun little piece that the author fell in love with while trying to flesh out a few of the main characters of his fLUX Runners series.

Ledmin is based around a kid named Owen who lives in his car, and falls in love with a grocery store cashier who is not real. Owen is unaware he's a part of a human simulation project on Earth, organized by his extraterrestrial parents, in an attempt to capture a rare penguin named Peppermint Ledmin, whom they desperately seek. Owen, along the way, makes an effort to break the simulation to help rescue and protect this uncommon treasure. Owen's courageous act puts himself, his soulmate, the universe, and his new mini arctic friend in jeopardy.
