Space Cat is written for children ages eight and up, but adults will appreciate the story as well. There are seven chapters in which the characters - Emma, her cousin, Riley, and Space Cat, Star - travel to the moon, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Along the way, they learn about each planet, how the solar system is structured, and how it operates. The scientific descriptions are provided in language children can easily understand.

The Soup Dragon, curious as ever, pops up to see what's going on and mistakes the Froglets' new "clothes" for food.

Fascinated by the fruit, Small Clanger and Baby Dragon continuously interrupt Tiny's music by fooling around with the noisy Blowfruit. Tiny attempts to find a quiet place on the planet. With no place to be found, Tiny and her flower friends retreat into space on the music boat to have an uninterrupted rehearsal.
