"Le livre des Proverbes" (paraboles) fait partie des Livres poétiques de l'Ancien Testament. La tradition l'attribue entre autres au roi d'Israël Salomon. Les chapitres 1 à 9 expliquent ce qu'est la vraie sagesse. Les chapitres 10 à 24 contiennent un recueil de dictons sur la bonne et la mauvaise manière de vivre. Les chapitres 25 à 29 contiennent des proverbes de Salomon transcrits par les gens d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda. Le chapitre 30 résume des pensées d'un certain Agur. Le chapitre 31 décrit les qualités d'une femme valeureuse.

The books of the Bible were written at different times by different authors over a period of approximately 1,500 years from around 1400BC through 90AD. The Old Testament was written in Biblical Hebrew with the exception of the Books written during "the Chaldean captivity", such as Daniel and Ezra, which were written in "Biblical Aramaic" during the "Chaldean captivity". Many of the Books of the Old Testament bear the names of the Prophets who authored them. Moses compiled the earlier parts of Genesis and directly authored the remaining portion.

Le récit des "Actes des Apôtres", cinquième livre du Nouveau Testament, est la seconde partie de l'œuvre dédiée "à Théophile" et attribuée à Luc par la tradition chrétienne comme par les chercheurs modernes, la première partie étant l'Évangile selon Luc. Le récit rapporte les débuts de l'église primitive, débute avec l'Ascension, suivie de la Pentecôte, et relate essentiellement la prédication de Paul de Tarse. Il se termine avec la première venue de Paul à Rome au début des années 60.

L'"Épître aux Galates" est un livre du Nouveau Testament. Cette lettre est envoyée par l'apôtre Paul aux églises de Galatie. La "1ère épître de Pierre" est un livre du Nouveau Testament rédigé en grec. L'auteur s'identifie dans l'incipit comme "Pierre, apôtre de Jésus-Christ". L'épître, adressée aux communautés chrétiennes d'Asie Mineure, est écrite de "Babylone ".
