Dale Johnston was arrested, tried and convictedfor the dismemberment murders of his stepdaughter, Annette Cooper, and her fiancé, Todd Schultz. He was sentenced to die in the electric chair. His conviction by a three-judge panel was later reversed by the Ohio Court of Appeals and that decision was subsequently upheld by Ohio's Supreme Court. However, the original question still remained: Was there a reasonable doubt?

He was a trusted neighbor, a respected businessman, and a smiling clown who entertained children. But beneath the floorboards of his quiet suburban home, a nightmare festered. This is a horrible, true story. One person called it "gruesome". I agree with that statement. It is a story not for the faint of heart. Turn back now, if that is you. What it really is though, is a strong dose of reality. Not of just how frail life is and how quickly and horribly it can end, but also of how cold and inhumane people can be to each other.
