Sometimes you do everything right, but it just isn't your day. My Year in Vietnam takes Phillip I. Elkins, a.k.a. In early February of 1968, at the beginning of the Tet Offensive, Private First Class Gregory V. Short arrived in Vietnam as an 18-year-old US Marine.
