When author Linda Farell learned that her neighbor, Ron Latham, had been given only a few weeks to live, she asked to interview him about his service in the Vietnam War. At first hesitant to share, Latham eventually consented to twenty-one interviews, sharing incredibly vivid, honest, and poignant memories about his time as a Green Beret. Latham died on the day their twenty-second interview was scheduled. Farell transcribed and edited the stories, leaving the voice, sequence, and content of the stories intact.

More than anything, however, Barnes' story is one of loss - of morale lost to alcoholism, teammates lost to friendly fire, missions aborted, and missions endlessly and futilely repeated. After fifty years, the story of the renowned 101st Airborne's major offensive near Tam Ky, South Vietnam, remains largely unknown. Fighting at Tam Ky by the 1st Brigade began 15 May 1969 while the 101st's 3rd Brigade battled on Hamburger Hill. The political consequences of Hamburger Hill's high casualties caused Lamar Plain and its high casualties to remain classified and undisclosed. Decades later, the fighting at Tam Ky is mostly forgotten except by those who fought there.

These are the true stories of a young man being drafted into the military upon college graduation in 1969. His mother, being very concerned he'd be sent into combat in Vietnam, made him promise to write to her regularly to dispel her fears. That's why most of the letters are upbeat and about totally random topics.

Sandra’s Hands is a true personal story written by a young teacher responding to the challenge of educating children who have been severely traumatized by violence. The book describes events in the life of Paul Berg between the years of 1966 and 1976, beginning with Berg’s service in the Vietnam War and following his life as he returns to America. Berg struggles to adjust to civilian life, becomes a Bureau of Indian Affairs teacher, and encounters another war on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

This memoir is based on handwritten letters, cards, and newspaper clippings sent between Carole and Bill Wagener from September 1968 to August 1969. The vernacular is accurate to that time, using words that are no longer politically correct.
