The first thing every listener will want to know is whether Anne Shirley appears in these stories of Avonlea and Spencervale. She certainly does. In 1789 HMS Bounty under the command of Lieutenant William Bligh sailed off on a voyage to Tahiti in the South Pacific to obtain breadfruit trees for transplanting in the Caribbean. After a long, difficult voyage, in which a passage of Cape Horn had to be abandoned, the ship finally reached its destination. Within a few months, the Bounty was loaded with breadfruit plants and fresh provisions. But the return voyage never materialized.

Little Women is a novel by the short story writer and novelist Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888), who was also an abolitionist and a feminist. Little Women was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869 and is still a popular children's novel. The setting is an imaginary household based on her own residence in Massachusetts, while the characters are modeled on the author and her sisters. The story takes place during the Civil War. The narrative chronicles the lives of the four March sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy - from childhood to motherhood.
