Ever since then, they have continued to be seen as a time of hardship and oppression, full of popes and crusades. This was far from a period of stagnation; rather it was the fire from which the Reformation was kindled.

This was a great listen. The “important people” sections were not as good in audio form, and “interrupted” the story, but it was very valuable to have a taste of the literature of the time. Amazing.
