Keeps you guessing

This J.P. Morgan story follows a young Australian woman working as an Au-Pair in Italy for a sketchy dirtbag sexual predator. Twists abound in a tale involving murder, revenge, secrets, and lies.
I enjoyed the book, but Pomare writes such insupportable characters that I found myself not caring what happened to any of these people. The otherwise intriguing narrative noticeably lacked tension.

As to presentation: Reader Maddy MacRae is a little bit weak with her Italian accents.. but her voice-acting is otherwise impressive. Likewise she occasionally betrays a flat tone.. but generally delivers an interested pitch-perfect narration. This is an "average" performance overall.

Altogether, 'A Chance Encounter' merits 7 stars out of 10. It was a more than reasonable distraction for free.. but save your Credit for something else if it leaves the 'Plus' menu.

Having read the reviews I didn’t know what to expect. So I decided to judge for myself. Just going on the 1 great review.
First let me say that this books first few chapters were a grind to get through. Let’s put that aside. I really debated whether to continue on or just put the book down.
I was so very happy I persevered. Because it was a very rewarding listen. I enjoyed it, I got caught up in the story from then to the end and loved it.

Once you get into the actual story from her arrival in Italy Id say it’s a captivating listen. The real story starts and the action and suspense and twists and turns begins.
I found the story and plot compelling and it was very beautifully narrated . I had no problems with the accent. It was clear and precise and understandable and I’m not Australian.

Beautifully written and beautifully narrated . I will look for more books by this Author.
