Story
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Few of impure blood are allowed beyond the nation's borders, and thus it's a great honor for the half-elven Count Varian Jeggare and his hellspawn bodyguard, Radovan, to be allowed inside. Story
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Story
In Of Dice and Men, David Ewalt recounts the development of Dungeons & Dragons from the game’s roots on the battlefields of ancient Europe, through the hysteria that linked it to satanic rituals and teen suicides, to its apotheosis as father of the modern video-game industry. As he chronicles the surprising history of the game’s origins (a history largely unknown even to hardcore players) and examines D&D’s profound impact, Ewalt weaves laser-sharp subculture analysis with his own present-day gaming experiences.

Story
A girl suddenly vanishes from her world and finds herself drifting in and out of consciousness in a world of pure darkness. The only insight into her precarious situation is a prompt opening before her eyes indicating that the system failed to delete her. The doggedly optimistic and naive teenager, Naomi, is reborn as a monster into a fantastical world governed by the rigid rules of a suspiciously game-like system; a world full of magic and danger where the familiar mingles with the inexplicable.

Too one-sided to pack the punch it needs
It's an engaging, fast-paced story about humanity's desperate efforts to colonize other worlds. As one colony ship reaches its destination, the crew and would-be colonists realize the world is likely to be the death of most colonists. Yet returning to Earth is not an option. What do they do? This story has the answer. Or at least, an answer, which comes down to 'if only you'd let the nerds do things the way they want, then you wouldn't have a problem to begin with.' It's a little too pat - an answer that leaves one thinking 'surely that can't be the end, can it?'. Perhaps this was meant to be a novel, one in which we'd get to see the struggles of the colonists. Or perhaps it was just meant to make a point. Either way, it's not satisfying as-is.

Interesting enough diversion - and worthwhile given that it’s free - but so short as to barley register, which is a shame because there’s a longer more interesting story here told from the opposite vantage point.

Great short
I’ll admit, it really kept me listening closely. Well written and well performed. I really hope the author expands on this. It would be an incredible Prologue to a larger story or series.
I didn’t spend a credit on it, rather I paid the few bucks and purchased it. Well worth it.
