Too one-sided to pack the punch it needs

It's an engaging, fast-paced story about humanity's desperate efforts to colonize other worlds. As one colony ship reaches its destination, the crew and would-be colonists realize the world is likely to be the death of most colonists. Yet returning to Earth is not an option. What do they do? This story has the answer. Or at least, an answer, which comes down to 'if only you'd let the nerds do things the way they want, then you wouldn't have a problem to begin with.' It's a little too pat - an answer that leaves one thinking 'surely that can't be the end, can it?'. Perhaps this was meant to be a novel, one in which we'd get to see the struggles of the colonists. Or perhaps it was just meant to make a point. Either way, it's not satisfying as-is.

Short story worth a quick listen

Classic DET.
Spoiler: the good people win.
Anti-spoiler: who are the good people?
Good sci-fi answer: the thoughtful ones.

Happy to see a bit of Bobiverse in action; great plot twists! Will tide me over until I complete the series.

Great story

It is not very often that I get a short story, but I thought I would give this one a go, and as always Dennis E. Taylor did a great job. I enjoyed this book quite a bit.

Thought provoking

The story shows how Hunanity starts too seed the stars. With a few bumps on the way. The story gives hope that despite the Long odds of survival there is yet a glimmer of hope. The Naration was great. All the actors played their part nicely. Enjoy the listen.

A good little short Story

I like the positive nature of Dennis's stories. While other sci-fi stories often look at worst case scenarios and bad out comes Dennis has a way of bringing out the hopefully side without making the stories boring.

Not sure what that was.

Interesting enough diversion - and worthwhile given that it’s free - but so short as to barley register, which is a shame because there’s a longer more interesting story here told from the opposite vantage point.

Note to Amazon and Movie Producers!!

I have all of Dennis's work and love every chapter. Why there's not any movie out yet only shows the disconnect between the movie industry and the real public.

Dennis as always 5 out of 5. Love the work. Keep it coming.

Short, but uses it well

Very short story that is able to create a universe better than and entire series by another author could. Amazing

Huge Dennis E. Taylor fan

Full of science and tactics and engagement. Ultimate compliment is that I've listened to it and know the story, would I give them my money again? Heck, yeah!! I've already read it but here's my money! Got to keep you and your family well fed and, hopefully, well sheltered! More, please!

too short to be entertaining

Nothing was developed. Way too short. Not worth the price. I have enjoyed every other book by this author but this just didnt do anything for me. Also didnt care for the narrator.

What a delight!

What a delightful surprise to find that this awesome little short story was released on Audible this past month.
My favorite author strikes again, along with a great narrator, Neil Hellegers backing him up!!! This made for a much needed break in the recent, current events!
Earth is dying, and in the rush to colonize the new worlds, things might go wrong... This 44 minute story will get to you in all the right ways! Guaranteed!

Great short

I’ll admit, it really kept me listening closely. Well written and well performed. I really hope the author expands on this. It would be an incredible Prologue to a larger story or series.
I didn’t spend a credit on it, rather I paid the few bucks and purchased it. Well worth it.
