I loved the story anything Victorian era mystery is enjoyable to me. I like the intensity of this story. I like that Mikaela is not a silly, simply good little girl but the narrator is terrible. She’s loud she’s abrasive her Scottish accent is horrific

As someone else mentioned, the book itself is very well written. Everyone loves a well written Victorian who dunnit, but I cannot take this voice seriously. The way she orates is grating and dramatic while still having an accent and tendre that sounds like it belongs on animal planet. It just very theatrical and unbelievable yet boring. I wish someone else was chosen to orate this wonderful book.

Very entertaining. Murder solving in 1899 is so wonderfully different from the 21st century. The dynamic between Angus and Mikaela was perfect.
One slight observation: Angus Brody’s voice did not match the description of him. He sounded tiny.
I’m going to read book 2.

I loved the eccentric heroine and the down-to-earth dynamic hero ( plus I love the dog )...the narrator has done a fantastic job with the acerbic Mikaela and all the women characters however her voice is too high to do Brody justice. From Mikaela comments on Brody you get the sense that he is a large burly man , a diamond in the rough; and the narrators voice just does not match the character. I find it disconcerting. That being said the story is excellent.

I love a good period mystery and this had it all! So much fun and Ms. Price did an outstanding job in her reading. Can’t wait to get my ears on the rest of this series!!
