Touching and warm
This story of a dog's journey from puppyhood to old age tugs at the heart of tender listeners. Parts of it were a bit too sad for my 10-year-old son who is an avid dog lover. That said, the tale is well-told and doesn't shy from the difficulties of life as a stray. My son, despite having sobbed when Squirrel recounts the loss of her mother and brother, daily asked to listen to the story until he was able to finish it one rainy Saturday afternoon.
A bit serious, the book is still a good choice for anyone who loves animals and who wants to encourage their children to see the world through the sees of the noble dog.

Beautiful and sweet
Who thought a dog's life could be so interesting? It was really sweet listening to Squirrel's story, beautifully narrated. One of my favorites, no doubt!

For tweens through adults
Would you consider the audio edition of A Dog's Life to be better than the print version?
no
What other book might you compare A Dog's Life to and why?
none
What about Wendy Dillon’s performance did you like?
her voice was pleasing and she added depth to the characters
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no, but I had already read the print edition
Any additional comments?
I read the print edition first to determine if this was suitable for my class of 4th and 5th graders. The students enjoyed the book, with it receiving 5 stars from almost every reader, except from one young boy who wanted more action and adventure and less emotion. ;)

A Dog's Life (Unabridged)
Very diappointing. Didn't really get into the mind of a dog. The voice was very much from a humans point of view...with street names, town names, names of flowers, fuzzy slippers etc.. and the dogs really didn't speak with each other so there wasn't ever any real bonding or connection. Also these dogs always had hardship with nary a moment of joy in the freedom of no attachments, of discovery and travel.
