Publisher's Summary

Not all guys obsess over tiny details…but Army Special Forces do.

The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right.

He would try harder.

With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick.

Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway. Next to it, held up by a knife, was a note. It was a warning - and he didn’t listen.

You’ll love being transported through time, to a future unlike anything we’ve imagined, where Alex’s fight to get back home becomes an epic struggle. This first book in the series will blow you away.

Basically Narnia

Nothing really wrong with the story itself. The main issue I have with the book is everything and everyone sounds like a version of “dayuton uha”. It makes Differentiating between all the characters and villages etc. very difficult. Easy enough to follow the story. Just would be nice to know who did what.

Ok

It’s a free listen and the ending leaves you hanging for book 2. I found it interesting but slow in some areas. There are inconsistencies such as his lack of situational awareness stepping into an unknowing land but all of a sudden he’s back to his peak special forces mindset when indoctrinated into the band. I don’t think my mind is invested enough to continue. I kinda want my 10 hours back.

surprised

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book..it was a simple story....but it had a very real story considering the concept. the story starts right away as I prefer... instead of long developing overview leading before story actually starts. I'm going to go on to book 2.

Genre outside my norm-Loved it!

I’ve always been attracted to stories like CS Lewis, The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, or Pierre Burton’s The secret land of Og. This is what I thought this story would be. Of course it was to a very small degree but it also came across with sci-fi characters which I’m not a fan of. Because it was so engaging from the start, I decided to stick with it for a bit. I was absolutely delighted to be so mesmerized from start to finish. Narration was excellent.

Good story and narration.

Good story and narration. Kept me interested, had a cliffhanger ending. A decent read. One thing that didn’t work for me was that at some points the narrator would whisper the inner thoughts of some characters. This made it difficult to hear while driving or listening outside (even while wearing headphones).

A fun read

Lots of unanswered questions about how this door into time came to be, and the world our hero lands in as well. Good thing it's a trilogy! The details of daily life in this world are interesting and the characters caught my attention. I'm listening to the second in the series now.
