À propos de cet audio

A Warhammer Age of Sigmar audiobook.

War makes for strange alliances - and so it is for the free city of the Colonnade, which must turn to the Mother of Nightmares and her dynasty of monsters to defend themselves against the hordes of Chaos....

Listen to it because: get an insight into one of the newest threats to the Mortal Realms - the monstrous vampire queen Lauka Vai and her dynasty of terrifying, bloodthirsty killers.

The story: the Colonnade, a free city held aloft by gargantuan pillars and crowned with a spire of diamonds, is the jewel of Ghur, obsessed with purity in a realm of bestial savagery. But now, it faces annihilation at the hands of an unstoppable beastherd. In a desperate gamble, Councillor Atella Reigehren requests the aid of a being anathema to the Colonnade. She seeks Lauka Vai, the Mother of Nightmares, and her dynasty of monsters, the Avengorii. The crucible of war has thrown these factions together, but can they put their differences aside to face this common foe, or will the clash of purity and monstrosity be their undoing?

Written by David Annandale. Narrated by Christopher Kent. Running time 9 hours 34 minutes.

I've both listened and read this book maybe a dozen times. the characters are deeply interesting and for and represent the setting very well, while the story is fascinating and worth returning to.
After my first listen I bought and painted the Lauka Vai model because I adore her so much. The Avengorii are just so interesting.

I keep coming back

I have hard time writing reviews, so just the fact that I'm leaving one here means this book made a really good impression on me. The entire story is surprisingly relatable, and felt relevant to our own universe/timeline but framed in fantasy.

The themes aren't hammered home either, the writing respects the listener/reader and honours itself by not resorting to cheap storytelling tricks or cop-outs. Actions have reactions/consequences, people feel real and not just like they perform for the purposes of the plot.

I'm even tempted to start another listen after having just completed it, and I've never felt like that before. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for the undead, as well as for stories that show the humanity in monstrosity and vice versa.

Fun, and well worth my time.

Really well written and read. This was my first Warhammer book of any kind and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to more.

Overall good book if a bit predictable! Lots ofof comparisons between the good and the bad. Holy and unholy in the book.

Chaos, vampires and humans oh my!
