Okay, ending a bit bland
I like the atmosphere that is created with these mini mysteries. I like the characters, and like the writing, and the narration is excellent. However, I found this one fell a little flat for me. There are a lot of loose ends not tied up at the end, and I found the conclusion pretty unsatisfying. I understand these are short, but then it would be nice not to introduce things that won't be resolved. Perhaps in the next installment things will be addressed.
summary: I think it's worth a read (especially for the price!), it's a nice cozy mystery but found the ending slightly unsatisfying compared to the previous

Love these characters, great mystery, ending a little flat
This is a really fun series, the narrator does a great job with the American accent. Love the main characters relationship and how cool is Kat? This one was full of interesting twists and turns and good sleuthing. Was a bit surprised when it ended A it didn’t seem very definitive. Will definitely be reading the next one! I hope they make many more.

Excellent story, A+ performance
I stumbled upon this series and absolutely love it! Listen to Mydworth Mysteries—A Shot in the Dark first. A Little Night Murder is #2. Carefully thought out plot and details, lighthearted and extremely capable main characters. Thank goodness Cat (Kat?) isn’t a high-stepping, flighty lady who makes blunders right and left. I adore her and her partner in crime Sir Harry and wish them many adventures ahead.

Way too progressive of outlook for the time
Okay so this is the second Of the series I've listened to Generation is much better Cat doesn't come off Quite as nasally and longshoremennee as she did before, that's a plus. But the characters View of the world is way, way too progressive for the time Sure there were the upper crust who had more risqué or liberal views on things back then but I can't see that they'd agree with every little thing that someone In the 21st century might go along with a champion, like in the pubs. Women driving let alone sitting on a motorcycles without it being a scandal. Kat seems to know how to do everything except for at 1 point she says Sail a boat. Love Matthew and Neil's Cherringham, however however this was series just not ringing true to me. The characters act to modern Kat Is never called Katherine She's still more butch than her husband, I can't see that they would really be accepted In the upper crust as much as they are in with their flagrant disregard for their place in the class system be a good or bad In the way some of the villagers talk to them with such distain, can't see happening too much back in the day with the gentry.
Now it pains me to complain about the story. However as a woman who shoots shotguns, long guns, pistols, even though I don't hunt, I do know that with a long rifle you cannot have your finger on the trigger and shoot yourself in the chest which is what they allude to, You could probably do it if you placed your thumb on the traeger and deliberately pulled it. They did a good job of describing people being safe with guns. However they should have just said that he must have tripped and the gun hit the groud and went off even with the safety on. The other problem I had was him shooting the deer in the head in the dark, full moon or not. Again I don't hunt but I do know people do not shoot big game in the head, too hard a shot, to hard of a head they usually shoot them in the heart area. Love Cherringham, I have hopes for this one.
