Publisher's Summary

"Alexis Daria's A Lot Like Adiós is a charming, sexy spitfire of a novel! Between Mich and Gabe's crackling dialogue and their palpable yearning, I fell hard and fast for this book, racing through its pages until I finally closed it with an overflowing heart and a deep happy sigh. Romance readers, this is your new favorite book!" (Emily Henry, number one New York Times best-selling author of People We Meet on Vacation)

The national best-selling author of You Had Me at Hola returns with a seductive second-chance romance about a commitment-phobic Latina and her childhood best friend who has finally returned home.

Hi Mich. It’s Gabe.

After burning out in her corporate marketing career, Michelle Amato has built a thriving freelance business as a graphic designer. So what if her love life is nonexistent? She’s perfectly fine being the black sheep of her marriage-obsessed Puerto Rican Italian family. Besides, the only guy who ever made her want happily-ever-after disappeared 13 years ago.

It’s been a long time.

Gabriel Aguilar left the Bronx at 18 to escape his parents’ demanding expectations, but it also meant saying good-bye to Michelle, his best friend and longtime crush. Now, he’s the successful co-owner of LA’s hottest celebrity gym, with an investor who insists on opening a New York City location. It’s the last place Gabe wants to go, but when Michelle is unexpectedly brought on board to spearhead the new marketing campaign, everything Gabe’s been running from catches up with him.

I’ve missed you.

Michelle is torn between holding Gabe at arm’s length or picking up right where they left off - in her bed. As they work on the campaign, old feelings resurface, and their reunion takes a sexy turn. Facing mounting pressure from their families - who think they’re dating - and growing uncertainty about their futures, can they resolve their past mistakes, or is it only a matter of time before Gabe says adiós again?

Alexis Daria does it again!

This woman is creating such a wonderful series that not only sweeps you off your feet in romance but relatability! A lot like adios has become a favourite and took me on quite the roller coaster of emotions.
From falling in love with the characters, to shying a way from the steaminess and tearing up with heartbreak. I love it!! I can’t emphasize that enough

Absolutely loved it.

I laughed, I cried, I was inspired, and damn, was it sexy! Alexis Daria's characters are authentic and multidimensional. The details she includes about Latinx New York -- its people, food, culture, music -- really bring you into the world of Gabe and Michelle. And the fanfic writing flashbacks as told via Windows Messenger were such a poignant inclusion! I recommend this book to anyone looking to fall in love with two beautiful (no really, they're hot AF) and complicated characters and the colorful world around them.

I wanted to love this

whew that did not need to be 30 chapters for one
for two I do love more Latinx writing fanfics but it felt corny and out of place??

I hate listened and I know I'll listen to more of her books but this just wasn't it

My Thoughts on A Lot Like Adios

A Lot Like Adios was a friends to lovers/second chance romance about two childhood friends who had grown apart due to time, distance, and a lot of past hurts. When a work project brings them back together, they have not only history to contend with, but also an intense chemistry, and a whole lot of family meddling. It was a really entertaining journey though, with lots of well-developed characters and all kinds of crazy, sometimes painful family dynamics. It was a story about friendship, and love, and dreams, and all kinds of romance goodness. I’m really growing to like this author with every new story I listen to of hers, but this narrator also did the story justice and then some.

Loved it!

I loved the characters and coming from an estranged Latinx family that holds resentments for years, I fully understood Gabe. And I am really glad that the author gave his character the growth and the insight to see that he needed to let things go to be free. Loved the ending too. Highly recommend

Eh. I was bored . . .

Yeah so this book was just eh. I didn’t really feel any connection to the characters. They were very emotionally immature and tried to create these big problems out of very minor issues. The romance was just blah and the family members were annoying. The sex scenes were okay but again everything just felt very shallow and the I didn’t see any deep connection. There was no complexity to the characters and neither of the mains were very likable. I listened to the second half of this on like 3x-3.5x speed just to get through it. I wish I could have liked it more but all I felt was bleh. . . 🥱

Whiny and full of idiots

Another story of people who have a simple problem and make an emotional mountain of it like a child. Then never grow up emotionally and seek acceptance because they think it makes them special... The Latino and SciFi fan fiction flash backs theme was the only interesting and well written part. All the emotional and real plot were a sad excuse of someone writing past their ability.

What an incredible representation of Latinx families. Can’t wait for the next book (Eva’s story). ❤️
